MESSAGE FROM THE CHAPLAIN
Dear beloved members of St.Francis Chapel Makerere University.
Greetings to you all beloved saints of the Lord who are chosen by the grace of God to declare the wonderful acts of God from darkness to His marvelous light ( 1peter 2:9b) Glory be to his name
We thank God for the far He has brought us and especially by keeping and helping us to remain united and serve as a team of both the clergy, lay staff, members of council and the rest of the congregation. Thank you so much for the contribution you are making to make the glory of St. Francis Chapel in Makerere University to be seen. Remember the word of our Lord Jesus in Mat. 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on the hill cannot be hidden”.
There is a lot of darkness in the world but together as light we can make a difference and St. Francis is a place where we can begin from to prepare and to be the light and the city that other churches and institutions can see and wonder at what the lord does.
We thank many of you who are closely associated with the history, growth and development of St. Francis Chapel in particular and Makerere University in general. After prayer, seeking God and listening to Him, this year 2017, the Lord gave us a word that he gave to Moses in Deuteronomy 1:6-7, which is our theme for this year- “You have been on this mountain for long, it is time to break the camp and advance”
It is our prayer that this year we shall be able to advance and do great exploits for the Lord. We cannot do any advancement if we remain on the same mountain. We must break camp and advance and this is not easy for it calls for serious , radical and revolutionary minds that must be made up to advance and move away for the status quo and embrace the change for good not for bad.
Remember our mission statement is, “to make Disciples who make disciples for Jesus Christ”. We cannot do this if we remain on the same mountain. We must move on. Friends let us not be contented and begin to celebrate. No, we have not reached the Promised Land. Let us break the camp and advance. Praise the Lord!
We would like to thank you and sincerely thank God for you for enabling you to get resources which you have been able to share with us unsparingly in the work of Chapel extension project.
We are proud of you and your generous giving, advising and participating in the work of the project which is about to be completed. Remember it is great work that the Lord is doing in our time and the devil is not happy. The good thing is that we are already aware that the devil is not happy but the good news is that “a stone that is visible cannot destroy the hoe”- “Ekijj’omanyi kinyaga bitono”.
Glory be to God for Peter in his first Epistle (1pet 5:8) exhorts us to be sober and vigilant because our enemy devil is looking for someone to devour.
My prayer is that the one to be devoured by the devil is neither you nor me. Remember his schemes are not only targeting us but also other believers. Let us do our best in all situations to resist the devil.
Our prayer is that we become vigilant than ever in our various fellowship groups to break camp and advance.
On a special note we would like to thank the marrieds fellowship whose commitment and involvement in many Church activities such as supporting the children in the children’s Church, giving premarital counseling, post marital counseling , supporting and encouraging the youth and teens to go for camps and other activities to mention but a few. Please do not give up the habit of meeting together and encouraging each other (Heb.13:1-6).
All of us in St. Francis have a role(s) to play in one way or another. Everybody is useful and resourceful. Kindly accept us when we reach you and ask you to share with us that which the Lord deposited in you for His people and His kingdom.
You are also encouraged to reach us and tip us of that resource in you that we might not have identified yet so that together as a family of St.Francis we can be able to break the camp together, advance together and also do great exploits for the Lord this year together. Praise the Lord.
We must never forget the words of prophet Haggai of challenging everybody to come with all they had to build the temple (Haggai 1:1-14) and we would like to identify with him again 2:9 “ the glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former” and this is our prayer that we shall surely seek the Lord, break camp and advance and remain a strong formidable team that shall influence the world so that they will see the glory of latter house and give glory to our Father who lives in heaven Mat. 5:16.
God bless you as you break camp and advance for the glory of God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
In His service
